AN IN-DEPTH WORKSHOP ON THE MOST INFLUENTIAL CONTEMPORARY CITY IN THE MIDDLE EAST
The most important issues regarding the most influential contemporary city in the Middle East will be the subject of discussion in Dubai from the 3rd to the 10th of March.
The Workshop, organized by Professors Tiziano Aglieri Rinella and Ruben Garcia Rubio from the University of Al Ghurair is intended to be an in-depth opportunity for studying the city’s most recent urban developments designed by major international studios such as Zaha Hadid Architects, OMA, Norman Foster and Santiago Calatrava. Although the works by these great designers are on different scales, they are all aimed at reuniting and shaping the urban fabric that has been fragmented and distorted as the result of the startlingly rapid growth in recent years.
Students from the Dubai Al Ghurair and other European universities will be invited to reflect on these themes.
Thanks to Artemide, the main sponsor, and the sponsors Costacurta and Interface, students will be able to carry out Workshop and in-depth activities and develop contacts through a busy programme of lectures and guided tours dealing with the fascinating reality of contemporary Dubai.
The results of the workshop will then be on display during Dubai Art Week and later at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in a special exhibition.
