Cultivating experience and nurturing curiosity are the starting points for Orazio Carpenzano’s research. In a personal representation of a new architectural and urban language, men and women are related to space with mind and body and become the leading characters in a design process in which the Image guides, the Shape builds and the Structure defines.

Walking along Corso Trento e Trieste in Lanciano in Abruzzo, means keeping in touch with contemporaneity through remembering the past. The image of the large filigree star known as the Presentosa, a traditional feminine jewel, is regularly represented in porcelain stoneware tiles in which the geometry of the outer disguise accompanies the citizen in the rediscovery of a local identity.
On the other hand, a designer often lives in the belief that any geometric form can give body to space, especially in the use of its total dimensions and, obsessed with the call to formal order, he uses regular structures to give full dignity to his idea.

This is precisely what takes place in the stone field of the Great War Memorial in Redipuglia in which a modular material becomes the master of space. The stones – exactly 8,047 – are strategically placed in a square that marks out a surface which previously had undefined and de-contextualized margins; thus the design generates a conceptual journey in which Architecture is simply linked to the City.
